10 Things Everybody Ought to Know About Jesus

christ
Have you ever reflected on who Jesus is to you?

The Bible reveals a number of aspects about the person of Jesus Christ as He walked this world befriending the humble while offending the haughty.

Here’s a list of 10 qualities that describe the character and personhood of Christ that continue to wow, surprise, challenge and inspire us. Never mind if these seem obvious to you or you’ve read these verses before, I invite you to re-read them and reflect on the questions below:
  • Jesus is a Person of love
Revelation 1:4-6, “…To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood”

  • Jesus a Person of forgiveness
Luke 23:34, “Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

  • Jesus is a Person of compassion
Mark 6:34, “When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them…”

  • Jesus is a Person of joy
John 15:11, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you…”

  • Jesus is a Person of humility & gentleness
Matthew 11:29, “…for I am gentle and humble in heart…”

  • Jesus is a Person of peace
John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you…”

  • Jesus is a Person of prayer
Mark 1:35, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”

  • Jesus is a Person without sin
Hebrews 4:15, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet he did not sin.”

  • Jesus is a Person of purpose
John 6:38, “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.”

  • Jesus is a Person of power
Luke 24:19, ““What things?” he asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.””

I put this list together as I was listening to a sermon last week and as I am writing it down now, I realize how little of these Christ-qualities is in me!

How do you think we can cultivate the character of Christ within us and reflect Him to others?
As a worship leader/musician, how can we reflect these qualities in our worship?
