Bible Study Tools calls itself "the largest free online Bible website for verse search and in-depth studies."And it’s pretty much true when you consider the vast array of Bible study resources available at this site like search from 39 Bible versions, online Bible reading plans, access to parallel Bibles, concordances, commentaries, dictionaries and encyclopedias… well, you name it, they seem to have it!
And that’s not all. For those interested in more detailed Bible study, there’s the interlinear Bible and lexicons in Hebrew and Greek.
The history section is particularly interesting providing access to:
- Creeds & Confessions - a collection of creeds, confessions and catechisms used by various churches throughout the history of the church
- Fox’s Book of Martyrs - detailing the lives, sufferings and triumphant deaths of the early Christian and the non-Catholic Martyrs
- Sketches of Church History - A two volume work that contains an overview of the history of the Church from the death of Christ to the Reformation
- The Works of Flavius Josephus
- Writings of the Early Church Fathers - a 38 volume collection of writings from the first 800 years of the Church divided into three series: Ante-Nicene, Nicene and Post-Nicene.
If that’s not enough, Bible Study Tools also provides Sermon illustrations and Helps, study of verses by topics (forgiveness, love, family, sin, doubt, heaven, evolution etc.). In fact there’s a specific section for pastors with lots of articles and illustrations.
I also liked the various newsletters available for free subscription:
- Christianity.com Foundations Weekly - thought-provoking articles on the principles of the Christianity
- Question of the Day from Jesus.org - Questions answered Daily from Jesus.org
- BST Daily Bible Reading – KJV - Daily Bible Reading - King James Version
- Bible Study Tools Weekly - Weekly updates from Bible Study Tools
- Sermon Search Weekly - Sermon ideas and illustrations from SermonSearch.com
All in all, a superb free resource for studying the Bible comprehensively.
